Understanding Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a certificate that indicates how much energy is being used to operate a building, that is indicated through a performance scale of A-G, with A indicating a building is most energy efficient and G being least energy efficient.The EPC is only issued by a SANAS accredited body prior to 31st of July 2024 and thereafter by a Registered Professional. EPCs for buildings are developed in accordance with the South African National Standard SANS 1544:2014.
